Robert Kraft is an American businessman and a sports enthusiast. Robert was born and raised in Brookline, Massachusetts, went to Brookline High School, and graduated in 1959; after his graduation, he got a chance a scholarship to join Columbia University, graduating in 1963, and later Harvard Business School, where he graduated with an MBA in 1965.
Kraft’s love for sports began when he was in Columbia; he played for the school’s lightweight football team. Robert is married to Myra Kraft, a graduate of Brandies University and a daughter of the late Jacob Hiatt, who was a Massachusetts philanthropist.
After Robert graduated from the University, he began his career serving at Randy-Whitney, a packing company based in Worcester owned by Hiatt and his family. Robert Kraft gained vast experience working in the packaging organization that established his company in 1972, International Forest Products, which deals with physical commodities. Randy- Whitney and International Forest Products merged to form one of the essential privately-owned paper and packaging companies in the United States. The companies were listed among the top 100 largest importers and exporters in the United States.
Robert Kraft started being involved in the entertainment industry in 1986 when he assisted a minority business group in acquiring WNEV-TV, a CBS affiliate in Boston. His involvement in the entertainment industry did not stop there; he continued with it by purchasing several Boston Radio stations. Robert is a member of Scott Sander’s company; a private equity firm founded a film and theater firm.
Since 1971, Robert has been a Patriots fan. He went further to invest in football when he bought an option adjacent to the stadium. In 1988, the choice became the first of its kind to culminate, leading to the team’s ownership.
