Greg Soros Turns Podcaster Success Into Mentorship Mission

Austin-based podcaster Greg Soros built Podcraft Media Lab into a production company known for polished, high-end shows. Rather than limiting his focus to well-funded corporate clients, Soros chose to pour resources into mentoring creators who lack access to premium studios and industry connections most established podcasters take for granted.

The commitment shows up through his work with the Podcast Academy’s diversity fellowship program, which pairs emerging voices from underrepresented communities with established professionals in the industry. Soros counts himself among the mentors who volunteer time to close gaps he sees across the medium, gaps he says keep talented storytellers from ever picking up a microphone.

“The podcasting industry has an accessibility problem,” Greg Soros said. “We have the technical expertise and industry connections to level the playing field, but more importantly, we have a responsibility to amplify voices that haven’t traditionally had access to premium production resources.”

Building Access Through Mentorship

Greg Soros podcaster brings a technical foundation from Berklee College of Music, paired with years spent inside major podcasting studios, to his fellowship work. That combination gives mentees a mix of creative and industry grounding rather than lessons limited to recording technique.

Fellows in the program work through narrative structure, sound design, and the business side of running a show, including how to approach sponsors and negotiate distribution terms. Soros treats those business lessons as essential rather than optional, arguing that creative skill alone rarely sustains a podcaster’s career.

A Model Others Are Watching

The results have caught the attention of larger podcast networks, some of which have begun building comparable mentorship pipelines of their own. Greg Soros sees that shift as proof his approach has staying power beyond a single company.

For Soros, the payoff isn’t measured only in downloads or deals. He describes the goal as shaping who gets to tell stories across the medium, one mentee at a time, by giving overlooked creators tools that once belonged only to well-funded shows. Refer to this article for more information.
