As Microsoft’s VP and head of product and engineering at Tom Keane, drive the company’s vision for its developer-as-a-service (DaaS) offerings. His team at the DaaS offerings field is also tasked with developing new capabilities to accelerate developers’ adoption of these services. Tom Keane explains that these efforts span multiple cross-functional teams within the Azure organization.

 

These, including Azure Logic Apps, Azure Machine Learning, Software Dev Kits (SDKs), and several others. As such, he serves as a trusted advisor to Microsoft leaders—especially regarding software development and engineering best practices. Tom Keane joined Microsoft in 2011 and currently serves as Vice President of Product and Engineering for Azure DevOps, Azure Machine Learning, Azure Logic Apps, Software Development Kits (SDKs).

 

In addition to other teams in the company’s Developer Services Group. He has held leadership roles at Microsoft since 2004, including Director of Product Management for Windows Server Search from 2006–2008. Tom Keane holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Colorado Denver. According to his LinkedIn profile, he is also a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) in Azure Cloud Platform and holds an MCP in Visual Studio.

Software developer and engineer Tom Keane is also an avid reader and has a particular fondness for the works of Robert Jordan. He holds several Microsoft and industry awards, including the Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) award in 2016 and 2017. Tom Keane is also an active member of several industry organizations, including the Software Development Group (SDG), the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), and the Software Engineering Institute (SEI). 

In addition to this, he sits on the board of directors for both SDG and CNCF. With SDG, he is a member of the SDG Advisory Board and has served as a technical co-chair for two SDG Summits. In addition to his official roles at Microsoft, Tom  Keane is a guest blogger for several industry publications, including InfoQ. He has also spoken at numerous conferences and events, including Software Development Conferences (SDCon), CNCF DevOps Days, Microsoft Ignite, and Cloud Next ’17.
