The Roosevelt Island Public Safety Department is happy to announce its new public safety initiative. Free workshops on varying topics will be offered to the community. These workshops are provided due to increased criminal activity and higher resident requests for more security, amongst other recommendations. All people interested are welcome to attend; no reservations are needed. The free workshop series will cover topics such as self-defense, cyber security, anti-theft app demonstrations, home safety demonstrations, and more. The workshops conducted by the Roosevelt Island Public Safety Department will be given to qualified individuals certified in their expertise. All workshops are free but are limited to 20 people each.
Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation also hosts community meetings on cyber security, anti-theft apps, home safety tips, and much more. Residents wishing to attend can sign up for a community notice board near the Roosevelt Island Bridge located in the Roosevelt Island Police Headquarters. According to Tajuna Sharpe, Human Resources Associate at The Roosevelt Corporation, these free workshops are a great way to learn something new, meet and network with your neighbors, and help us get to know you. Tajuna Sharpe states that this is to help residents and business owners to build a stronger community on Roosevelt Island.
