Kelcy Warren is one of the richest people in Texas. His personal net worth is estimated at US$ billion, based on his ownership of pipelines and other energy-industry assets.

He was born and spent his early life in Dallas, Texas. He attended Southern Methodist University before joining a Dallas-based energy company where he became president of its pipeline division; he then became the company’s CEO three years later. He sold his company to Phillips for US$ billion, which was the largest sale of a privately owned energy company at that time.

Warren’s personal wealth is estimated at more than $2 billion, and he is ranked in the Forbes 400 list of richest Americans, with an estimated net worth of $1.7 billion as of 2012. Warren has been listed as one of the “World’s 25 Most Influential Leaders” by the magazine Time. Warren is the founder and current chairman of Transwestern, one of the largest real estate investments in the United States. He has been listed as a “Rolls-Royce Millionaire” by the magazine. He was ranked #2 on Forbes’ list of philanthropic billionaires. Warren also owns a Ford F-150 pickup truck and an Aston Martin sports car; he is also a fan of Ryman Hospitality Properties, Inc.

Warren and his family are leaders in Texas Republican politics. He contributed a majory to the Republican Party, and was also considered for the nomination for Vice President of the United States at the Republican National Convention in Miami Beach.

Kelcy Warren along with brother Ray, founded the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Warren served as publisher until Warren’s death ; he was succeeded by his widow, Hilda Warren, who is currently CEO of the paper. The Warrens also owned the ” Fort Worth Business Press.

Kelcy Warren was a committed conservative Republican; he has given generously to the Republican Party and individual candidates, including US President George H. W. Bush, who appointed him to the National Petroleum Council . he contributed millions to Bush’s re-election campaign and joined the campaign finance committee of Bush’s presidential campaign as co-chairman of its fundraising effort in Texas.
